COVID-19 Response

Dear Parishioners                                                            September 20, 2020

I hope and pray you are all doing well.   It is good to be able to continue our planned re-opening of parish facilities.   By God’s grace our parish, school staff and students are in good health.  The students seem to love the outdoor time. The weather has been great for them.  Stay safe.  Thanks for your prayers.

Re-Opening of the Parish Office

I am pleased to announce that we have re-opened the Office with reduced hours and a protocol for the safety of staff and visitors.

The parish office is open following the guidelines of the Diocese and public health professionals. The employee offices beyond the entrance will remain closed to visitors at least through the end of the year. Any meeting with ministry leaders will be made by appointment with them. Masks, health screening and physical distancing will still be required. The mail drop slot is still available in the entryway for you to leave Sunday envelopes, Mass requests and any other communication.

You may contact us by phone 517-393-3030 or email. The office will be staffed during the following hours:

Monday and Friday 8:30am-12noon
Tuesday through Thursday 8:30am-12noon and 1-5pm

We are here to serve you. Don’t hesitate to call if you are in need of our assistance.

Holy Spirit Oratory

We are waiting for the installation of a special remote-controlled curtain that will enable us to open the Oratory 24-7. We plan to have it installed in early October.  Thank you for your patience.

Baptism is the very first sacrament for all who desire to be Christian which means to follow Jesus Christ.  Baptism opens the door to many graces to help your child grow to know and follow Jesus. In the Catholic Church Baptism will give your child access to the full sacramental life of the Church and all the graces that accompany each sacrament.

While the Covid has caused us to limit the numbers for gatherings,  it does not prevent us from offering this most important first sacrament.

I especially encourage parents with newborn infants to contact Jen Brown to prepare for and schedule  your child’s baptism.   Jen can be reached at or by calling the parish office at 517-393-3030.

Dear Faithful of IHM

Peace be with you.   I hope you are well.  As you may know the Governor has issued a stay-at-home order for all persons not involved in providing essential services.  We are still hoping to stream Mass next weekend.  We will confirm this later in the week.

In the meantime, I encourage you to check the Mass Schedule for EWTN and for Bishop Barron’s “Word on Fire Website for the daily Mass from his chapel.

One thing we can all do together is pray from wherever we are.

With this in mind I offer the following opportunities for us to pray together. I will have more suggestions in the days ahead.

3PM Friday:  Pray the “Chaplet of Divine Mercy”

4PM Daily:  Pray the Rosary.  Led by Jen Brown.  If you want to pray “live” with Jen you can link with her through Facebook. Our Facebook page is

7PM Friday: Pray the “Stations of the Cross”.

Regarding the Chaplet, Pope Francis has announced a Plenary Indulgence for the remission of temporal punishments due to sin for those directly connected with the Corona Virus.  See the attached link for details as to what you need to do to receive this indulgence.

Of course, you can pray all of these every day as often as you like. .

Adoration chapel: As of 8pm Monday March 23, the Adoration chapel will be closed until April 18th.

March 17, 2020

Dear parishioners:

Out of deep concern for the health and safety of our parish family, due to the threat of the corona virus, the following will go into effect beginning tomorrow March 18th

Public Masses etc.

Bishop Boyea has announced that all public Masses, events, and gatherings will be cancelled throughout the Diocese of Lansing beginning tomorrow morning (March 18, 2020) lasting, for now, through Wednesday of Holy Week (April 8, 2020).   We will see at that time whether these plans have to change.

Mass Intentions:

Quoting Bishop Boyea, “the Holy Mass is our way to render back to God our worship and thanks for his many blessings to and for us, his beloved sons and daughters.”   I will be offering daily private Masses for your intentions. Currently scheduled intentions will be honored by me on the dates to which they have been assigned.  If you have other needs to be prayed for at Mass, please send those to me at

Funerals: Participation will be limited to immediate family.

SacramentsBaptisms that have already been arranged will be celebrated as scheduled with immediate family (10 or less).  Reconciliation will be offered by appointment. You can reach me by email at or via our emergency line by calling 517-393-3030 and following the prompts

Parish Ministries

Individual ministries will have the opportunity to meet in groups of 10 or less outside of the parish, at locations determined by current ministry leaders.

Office Closing- Emergencies

Our parish office will be closed effective Saturday March 21st.   In case of a health emergency or the death of a loved one and you wish to contact a priest call 517-393-3030.  Following the prompts, you will be directed to my emergency line.  If I am unavailable when you call please leave a brief message and contact information. I will get back to you as soon as I am able.

Prayer: I encourage you to keep the efforts of our nation, our diocese, and our parish in prayer.  To help you with this, we will keep our church open from 3-5 daily for anyone who would like to come in individual or small group prayer. In addition, I will be sending you some prayer suggestions and links to assist you during this time.

As we get closer to the the 8th of April, we will revaluate these requirements guided by the Bishop and by federal and state requirements.  You will be contacted via this website or by your ministry leader where applicable.   Be assured of my prayers for you and your families especially in the celebration of Holy Mass.
