Confirmation
"By the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence, they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed" (CCC #1285).
Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation. Along with Baptism and First Holy Communion, Confirmation "[lays] the foundation of the Christian life... The faithful are born anew by Baptism, strengthened by the sacrament of Confirmation, and receive in the Eucharist the food of eternal life. By means of these Sacraments of Christian Initiation, they thus receive in increasing measure the treasures of the divine life and advance toward the perfection of charity" (CCC #1212).

Confirmation is a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit, who, “transforms our hearts and enables us to enter into the perfect communion of the blessed Trinity” and to build up the “harmony of the people of God” (Pope Francis, Evangelii Gaudium [Joy of the Gospel], no. 117). Moving in “great haste” to do the will of God and, thus allowing the Holy Spirit to transform our hearts, is a lifetime pursuit and we want to prepare and support our students well on this ongoing adventure.

Confirmation Formation
- Who: All Children ages 7th-8th. If your student needs to be Confirmed but is not within this age range please reach out.
- When: Parent meeting Sunday, September 20th following the 11:00am mass. Formation begins Tuesday, September 22nd from 6:30 to 8pm. (See Schedule HERE: Include PDF version)
- Where: Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Classroom 6.
- Mandatory Retreat: Included in the formation process is a mandatory retreat in January. If your child can not make the retreat date work please reach out as soon as possible to discuss alternative dates.
- Service Project: Students will volunteer at least once at IHM’s community meal on one of the 3rd Sundays throughout Confirmation Preparation. Details provided at the Parent meeting.
