Parish Life

The heart of a parish is the Eucharist and the Sacramental life that Christ gives to us to participate in his life. Each Christian is called to have made a decision to follow Christ intentionally and closely throughout their life. Being a part of the Church feeds us in many ways and forms us in the ways of God.

We know that having a community of people who believe the same thing together and are looking to grow to be more like Christ, is a vital part of our growth.   We listen to each other, challenge each other, support one another and grow in our understanding of what it means to follow Christ in the context of his Church together. Life can sometimes be difficult and having a community of Christians around you to help you grow is vital to the Christian walk.

Faith formation is a vital element of the Catholic life as we grow in knowledge and understanding of our faith in Jesus Christ and the Church he gave us. A deeper understanding can lead to a more intimate relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and through the Trinity to the Church and our family, friends, neighbors, parish, and community. Such faith formation is not just for children, but for all of us as we grow as Catholics. We strongly encourage people to take part in the various opportunities that we offer-it is one of the best ways to get to know people in our parish!

Each of us have been given a particular vocation or reason for being on this earth by God. We are all called to participate in the mission of the Church which is to "
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19).  There are opportunities to build up the parish from within the parish - being a part of the Choir to bring beauty to the Mass, being an Extraordinary Minister of Communion or a Lector, or in some of the ministries that we have to reach out to others - participating in the Rosary Group, helping with Youth Ministry, being on our Alpha Team, or joining St Vincent de Paul Ministry. There are many ways to serve Christ and his people!

With so many ways to be part of parish life, you'll want to stay informed by regularly reading the weekly bulletin, just in case you've misplaced the one you received at Mass. You’ll also want to check the parish calendar for a list of events and mass schedules.

Our parish has a rich history in South Lansing and Holt, being founded by people who trusted in the Lord and gathered together under the leadership of our bishop. Who we are today is based on who we were yesterday. We are blessed by the many people who went before us!

We encourage you to explore the many offerings that our parish has. We genuinely enjoy one another's company and we invite you to take part in the fun, growing in our faith journey and Sacramental life with us. God bless you always!
