"By the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence, they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed" (CCC #1285).
Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation. Along with Baptism, and First Holy Communion, Confirmation "[lays] the foundation of the Christian life... The faithful are born anew by Baptism, strengthened by the sacrament of Confirmation, and receive in the Eucharist the food of eternal life. By means of these Sacraments of Christian Initiation, they thus receive in increasing measure the treasures of the divine life and advance toward the perfection of charity" (CCC #1212).
Confirmation
- Confirmation preparation begins in 7th grade and continues into 8th grade in our school. The students have the opportunity to learn about who the Holy Spirit is, how the Holy Spirit can work in our lives, and what to do with the beautiful gifts of the Spirit. (TBD if Confirmation will regularly take place in the spring of 7th grade, or in the fall of 8th grade, with Mystagogy to follow in 8th grade)
- Parishioners with children who are homeschooled, or attend public schools have the option to join preparation classes with St. James, Cornelius & Cyprian (JCC) in Mason. For now, we have partnered with JCC for first reconciliation, first holy communion and confirmation preparation for non-school families. You can click here for more information about their faith formation classes.
